About the Show
Academy Musical (Ages 7-13)
In a galaxy far, far away, Luke Warmwater and his aunt, Daft Ada, live a lonely life on their secluded space station, Junction 51. But when Princess Nebula’s ship crash lands into Luke’s bedroom, they soon learn of the evil Umpire and his dark desire to conquer the universe. Along with Toby Wonky Nosebleed, Zak Solo and Nigel the Nookie, they follow Princess Nebula in her rebellion. Aboard the Millennium Penguin, they whizz warp-speed through the galaxy to the Umpire’s High Tower on Planet Wimbledonia. But little do they know, the Umpire is about to strike back!

Everyone who registers will be cast! Please list any and all known conflicts with the show you are registered for. Conflicts are taken into consideration when casting, and any conflicts/absences not listed at the time of casting may result in change of role.
There will be no rehearsal on May 27th, July 4th, or July 5th.

Audry is 13 and going into 8th grade. She has been in several Shade Tree productions including Robin Hood , How I Became A Pirate , and The Big Bad Musical . She has been in Into the Woods and Robin Hood at her school, too. You can also catch her later this summer in Percy Jackson and the Olympians . Audry is very excited to play the bad guy (mwa-ha-ha-ha!) She is sharing the stage with her sister, Isabella, and has a dog named Murphy. When she’s not shining on stage, she plays lacrosse and enjoys making art. She’d like to cheer on her sister - Go Isabella Bashus!

This is her first year at Shade Tree Players, but she has been in several productions including The Lion King , Moana, and The Red Slippers . She enjoys spending time with her family and dog, Murphy, listening to Taylor Swift, soccer, softball, lacrosse, hockey, volleyball, swimming, making smoothies, and going on vacay with her family.

Hope is 13 and is going into the 8th grade at Horizon Middle School. She has been a part of several shows at Shade Tree, including How I Became a Pirate, The Girl With the Golden Locks, and The Best of Both Worlds. She also participates in musicals at school. Hope is the daughter of Kris and Brent. Along with participating in theater, she enjoys playing violin in orchestra and singing in the school choir, spending time with her friends, playing with her cat Maybelle, and eating gummy bears. Her parents would like everyone to know “Hope is a light to all and has a big heart. What a gift she is to many!”

She’d like to wish her team “break a leg!” on stage and wants to thank Emilie, Megan, and Steph for the awesome experience.

She has also been in Fairy Godmother and Fairy Godfather. She is following in the footsteps of her two sisters who also enjoy doing plays and musicals, Serenity and Clarity. In her free time, she enjoys playing D&D, gymnastics, and dance.

In her free time, she likes playing volleyball, going out on the trampoline, hanging out with friends, and playing with her dogs. She also enjoys trips to the lake cabin and creating art.

She also enjoys dancing, watching TV, and playing pirates.

She was seen earlier this season in Channeling Grimm and in previous years in The Big Bad Musical and How I Became a Pirate . In her free time, she enjoys art and climbing. She also enjoys Dance, drums, reading, and riding horses. Kaitlyn is an only child with a dog named Artemis and 3 horses named Zephyr, Apollo, and Daisy. She would like everyone to know that she is very excited to be back on stage, noting, “I used to always be an extra until this year!"

Violet is 11 and going into 6th grade. While this is her first show with Shade Tree Players, she has performed in shows at her school; She was in Once Upon a Dragon’s Fire and Reindeer Games . Violet has 2 brothers, a mom, and a dad. Her dad works at the public library, so she spends a lot of time there and really enjoys reading and writing, including the book she is writing, The School for Undercovery . She also enjoys making art and learning to rollerskate.

She is the middle child of 5 kids; She has two younger brothers, Asher and August, two older sisters, Jillian and Alexis, her mom, her dad, and her amazing grandma. She also has two cats and a Great Dane. Lyla has a jam-packed schedule; she’s in track, soccer, and volleyball, and enjoys art, hiking, biking, and fishing. She also loves listening to music and eating candy (especially whoppers), pickles, and baking and cooking - even when she burns half of it.

When not on stage, she enjoys art, hanging out with friends, competitively for DanceWorX Studio, and, of course, singing. In his free time, Aidan enjoys watching TV and playing Minecraft.

Some of her favorite things include drawing, writing, reading, doing math, learning about the ocean, and studying.

Nevaya has a dad who goes to work, a stay-at-home mom, a ballerina sister, a pinching big brother, and a playful little brother. She’s a jack of all trades, enjoying things like Karate, bookmaking, cooking, acting, drawing, and science. She’s also been in Sleepy Hollow and has a pet gecko.

Alice is 12 and going into 8th grade at Horizon Middle School. Alice was practically born to be on stage! This is her third summer with Shade Tree, and she is also in shows at school. She has been in a lot of shows, including Rumplestiltskin: Private Eye , How I Became a Pirate , Blue Crocodile , Finding Nemo, Jr. , and Annie Jr. She is the middle child and the only girl in her family. She also has a very cute, fuzzy husky named Ozzy (after Ozzy Osbourne because her family is awesome sauce). Along with performing, Alice also loves figure skating, art, volleyball, video games, biking, running, listening to music, and eating - especially her favorite food pickles.

Joey is 9 and going into 4th grade. Her mom is Stacy Leigh and her dad is Jason. Her brothers’ names are Braxton and Mason. Her pets are: Fritz, Tiger, Scottie, Marceline, and Sherbert. This is her first year with Shade Tree Players, but she comes from a Shade Tree family, with her brother Mason having done shows for a long time. In her free time, Joey enjoys playing volleyball and basketball, hanging with friends, going to movies, and art. Joey also loves to swim, shop, and work with her mom because she gets to see pets every day. Joey also helps her dad on construction sites as he builds homes!

This is Emilie’s first production as a director at Shade Tree Players. Growing up, she was in several Shade Tree Players productions, which sparked her love of theater. During the school year, she is the English and theater teacher at St. Mary’s Central High School where she’s been directing plays for several years. In her free time, she likes to crochet, go to concerts, and read in the backyard. Emilie would like to thank her husband, Brad, for being supportive of her creative endeavors.

Stephanie has been involved in Shade Tree Players since 2013. She is originally from South Dakota and works for Mandan Public Schools as a band director. In addition to theater, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband Adam, son Tobias, daughter Josephine, and family and friends. She is also involved in the Bis-Man Civic Chorus, plays clarinet with the Bis-Man Wind Ensemble, and is involved in her church. Stephanie would like to thank her friends and family for all their support throughout this process. She would also like to thank the Shade Tree kids and their parents for their hard work. Megan is very excited to be on the adult side of a Shade Tree production for the first time, having been a Shade Tree kid for 10 years way back in the early 2000s (which is where they met their bestie Emilie). They stage manage all around Bismarck including at Dakota Stage and Capitol Shakespeare. Most recently, they stage managed Hamlet which closed last weekend! Megan would like to thank their friends and family for their support through another theater-filled summer.
